Tarlant Zero Brut Nature NV - First Bottle

Reviews

93 James Suckling -
This has an engaging sense of raw fruit on the nose with fresh citrus, dried peach, strawberries and pears. The palate is impressively zesty and carries plenty of tart lemon flavor. Powerful, dry finish. Drink now.
92 Vinous -
Tarlant’s NV Brut Nature Zero is, as always, a wonderful introduction to these wines. The non-dosé style lends energy to the citrus, crushed flower and dried herb flavors. Crisp, energetic and beautifully taut, the Brut Nature Zero is a Champagne of pedigree and class, especially within its peer group. This release is based on the 2010 vintage, with the addition of some reserve wines, and was disgorged on January 8, 2018, with much more time on the lees for a NV entry-level wine. All of the estate’s attention to detail comes through in this gorgeous Champagne.
92 Wine Spectator -
Rich hints of roasted nut and salted butter underscore the palate's black cherry and lemon curd flavors in this dry, lacy Champagne. Balanced, though firm, with a streak of salty mineral lingering on the crisp finish. Disgorged February 2018. Drink now through 2025. 650 cases imported.

Tarlant is the epitome of electric-powered Champagne, it reverberates at a new frequency and lights up your cerebral cortex with its citrusy minerals and glorious acidities. Aged in neutral barrel, but never allowed to go through malolactic (a secondary fermentation contributing to a rounder, richer mouthfeel and softer acids), this has weight and sheer power but also incredible freshness. Check out all the great reviews below but know that these won't last long.

About the Producer

In 1687, according to local records, Pierre Tarlant (1648-1744) began cultivating vineyards. He was the first winegrower, in Gland, in the Aisne district. It wasn't until after the devastation of WWI that the Champagne house was restored and Champagne Tarlant was truly born. The family now farms 34 acres in 4 different crus: Oeuilly, Boursault, St-Agnan and Celles-les-Conde. The wines are vinified and aged in oak and they do not go through malo. Expect wines that are round and creamy from the oak but zippy and fresh from the malic acid. No dosage also adds to the snappy acidity, don't miss these Champagnes!
