Clemens Busch Riesling (Dry) Pundericher Marienburg Falkenlay GG 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

95 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
From weathered gray slate, Busch`s 2016 Pundericher Marienburg Riesling GG "Falkenlay" offers a clear, pure and fine, highly complex and smoky bouquet of crushed stones and bright fruit aromas. Full-bodied, lush and salty, this is an enormously tensioned and intense Riesling that reveals a concentrated fruit core with a long, elegant and tensioned finish. The texture is almost silky and the minerality perfectly integrated. This is one of the finest of the 2016 GGs from the Mosel. Bottled in late September 2017; tasted February 2018. -- Stephan Reinhardt in Issue #236, APR 2018

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
GG stands for "Grosses Gewachs", or "great site/growth" and is made in tiny quantities, much prized by serious Riesling collectors. This one is a 95 point MASTERPIECE. It's crystalline and absolutely electric. One of the most exciting wines at our last company BBQ, this stood tall next to some very serious competition.

About the Producer

Clemens Busch and his wife Rita took over the family business in 1984 and since have shaped it into one of the most iconoclastic estates in the Mosel. A firm believer that natural practices in the vines and cellar lead to the ultimate expression of terroir, Clemens exemplifies the balance between tradition and forward thinking we so look forward to when seeking out new producers. The majority of Clemens's production is grown on the extremely steep Pundericher Marienburg, a 25 hectare vineyard that spans an entire hillside exposed full South/Southwest. This incredible vineyard sits right on the edge of the river and is widely considered amongst the very best sites in the Mosel. 16 of the Clemens' hectares are here, with only 2 hectares originally inherited from his father.
