Clemens Busch Riesling (Dry) Pundericher Marienburg Falkenlay GG 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
From gray slate, the 2015 P?ndericher Marienburg Riesling GG Falkenlay is pure, yet deep, intense and flinty on the nose. On the palate, this is a very intense, round and juicy Riesling, charmingly round and mouth-filling, with lush and intense fruit, great purity, finesse and mineral tension in the persistent finish. It is bottled with 7.1 grams of residual sugar.
94 James Suckling -
This is still very funky and opens up very slowly, but there’s great concentration from the first great surge of peachy fruit to the tightly knit intensely mineral finish. In spite of all the power, it feels virtually weightless. A stunning wine if you’ve got patience.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Hardcore Riesling enthusiasts...go!! Under $40! One of the hottest and most respected relative newcomers in the Mosel --- Clemens Busch!! We have enough dead-serious Riesling fans (if you know, you KNOW) on our list to sell out of this pretty quick, but just in case you are dipping your toe into the complex geekiness that is "Grosses Gewachs" (GG), or "great site/growth" --- THIS should be at the top of your list.

The majority of Clemens' production is grown on the extremely steep Pundericher Marienburg, a 25 hectare vineyard that spans an entire hillside exposed full south/southwest. This incredible vineyard sits right on the edge of the river and is widely considered amongst the very best sites in the Mosel. 16 of the Clemens' hectares are here, with only 2 hectares originally inherited from his father.

You can read the gushing DOUBLE 94-point reviews below, but trust your wine merchant when we say that these are “epiphany” wines -- the incredible purity, balance and minerality is nothing short of breathtaking. A MUST! Super-limited!

About the Producer

Clemens Busch and his wife Rita took over the family business in 1984 and since have shaped it into one of the most iconoclastic estates in the Mosel. A firm believer that natural practices in the vines and cellar lead to the ultimate expression of terroir, Clemens exemplifies the balance between tradition and forward thinking we so look forward to when seeking out new producers.
