Markus Molitor Riesling Urziger Wurzgarten Spatlese White Capsule 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

95 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Riesling Urziger Wurzgarten Spatlese (White Capsule) offers a deep and complex yet delicate and discreetly flinty nose with a very fine, fresh and bright citrus and stony aroma. Full-bodied, intense and lush on the palate, this is a silky textured, highly elegant and superbly balanced Wurzgarten with an intense and powerful, very mineral and salty finish. The wine reveals great complexity along with serious grip and tensioned length but keeps its great finesse. Fermented and aged in large oak barrels until the bottling in September 2017. Tasted March 2018. -- Stephan Reinhardt, March 2018
94 James Suckling -
A big ripe wine with intense smoky and spicy notes. Although it only has 11% of alcoholic content, this is almost too much of a good thing. The power surging right through the dramatic finish. Drink or hold.

WORLD-CLASS Riesling (look at the scores). From the famed "spice garden" vineyard comes this absolutely stellar bottle of off-dry riesling. Wine Advocate flipped for this beauty in their 95 point review, calling it, "deep and complex yet delicate... Full-bodied, intense and lush on the palate, this is a silky textured, highly elegant and superbly balanced..."

About the Producer

In 1984, at the tender age of 20, Markus Molitor took over his father's winery with a clear aim: to produce Mosel Rieslings under the name "Molitor" in the tradition of eight generations and in the same quality that made the region world-famous 100 years ago. The wines are terroir-specific, unmistakable and extremely ageable. One of our favorite Mosel producers here at First Bottle!
